The Life of Mother-Of-Pearl
THE VARUNA COLLECTION
Inspired by the striking elements of nature, Jenny set out to create a collection that builds upon last year’s Studio Collection by highlighting genuine mother-of-pearl. Jenny continued to play with organic forms and shapes and combined our identifiable chains—that we do so well—to create something truly unique.
Mother-of-pearl —or nacre— is a luminous, iridescent and organic compound that is produced by mollusks and its inner shell layer acts as a protector to preserve the shell.
“There’s a life and whole other dimension to this collection,” says Jenny, “They’re a bit nostalgic; think revival pieces with sophistication. We wanted to focus on creating something that was casual, yet luxe and unique while offering the ease of layering.”
A few standouts we've added to our long list of NEW favourites are:
THE CALA EAR JACKETS
As two separate pieces that hug your ear, the organically-shaped studs inlaid with genuine mother-of-pearl can also be worn solo.
Or, personalize it and swap out the Cala stud with your favourite bar or different stud.
A large organically-shaped pendant inlaid with genuine mother-of-pearl hangs from a circular hoop.
The elongated link collar flanks both sides of the circular hoop and wraps around the neck, finishing with a toggle closure.
A medium organically-shaped pendant inlaid with genuine mother-of-pearl hangs from a delicate flat mariner chain.
The piece is finished with a clasp closure and two rings so you can adjust to your desired length.
Throughout the creation process, Jenny found mother-of-pearl to be extremely unique in nature and as such, you will see natural grooves, flecks, and different shades from one design to the next. The multicolored iridescence in each design is a result of the light reflecting on the layers of nacre on the shell, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind look.
