Modernist Monogram Collection
“Our guiding principle was that design is neither an intellectual nor a material affair, but simply an integral part of the stuff of life, necessary for everyone in a civilized society.”
– founder and director of the Bauhaus school, Walter Gropius.
Bauhaus 93 typeface
The Modernist Monogram Collection has been a highly anticipated collection for the JENNY BIRD brand, as well as Jenny Bird herself. This collection is deeply inspired by the Bauhaus movement, specifically, the commissioned typeface that was used for sole communication throughout Bauhaus.
The ethos behind Bauhaus was that the world needed to be fundamentally rethought. Unnecessary detail was out. Minimalism was in. Good design meant simplicity and geometric purity. Loosely translated from German, the word Bauhaus means, “building house” or “school of building”. It was a new type of art school that believed in variety, as well as unifying art with craft, while embracing new technology.
“As a movement itself, Bauhaus has been one of the most pivotal in design, throughout modern history. It has inspired my design, definitively, over the last 5 years,” Bird states.
“This collection, acts as a fresh, geometric, clean and minimal approach to monograms — finally, that cool monogram piece you’ve been looking for.”
